C.18 Rudi Meyer

Meyer was a Swiss graphics designer, famous for his poster designs, watches, brandnames, logos for Prenatal, Banque National de Paris, Waterman and a number of other companies. Member of numerous committees and international organisations. His work attracted much attention and has been shown at approximately twenty exhibitions worldwide. His watches have been selected by the 'Gute Industrieform IF' Hannover Germany.

1943	Born on the 11th of June in Basle, Switzerland.
1958-1963	Attends 'The Design School' in Basle. Becomes a pupil of Donald Brun, Armin Hofmann and Emil Ruder.
1964	Moves to Paris.
1967	Becomes lecturer and later on a professor at the ENSAD, in Paris where he teaches Graphic Design and Typographics.
1974	Becomes an independent designer. Designs a series of watches for Lip, which remains a hallmark for modern design, even twenty years after date.
1976	Cartographic designs for the French railroad (SNCF).
1977	Together with Massimo Vignelli and Roger Tallon he designs a signal system and the cartographics for the RER, the company that exploits the extensive underground network in Paris.
1982	Joint development with several designers of the interiors of the following Renault automibiles: 'R5', 'R9', 'R11', 'Fuego' and 'R18'.
1990	Lectures at 'Atelier National de Création Typographique' (ANCT).

Lip Galaxie Line All these watches have a circular case and an AS 7525 automatic movement with date.

6	A black case, grey dial with twelve black balls and a grey leather strap. (Ref.no. 43767)
7	The same with a brown case. (Ref.no. 43899)
8	A blue case, a blue dial with twelve circular holes and a black strap. (Ref.no. 43815)
9	A black case, black dial with white numbers and a black strap. (Ref.no. 43900)
10/11	Sometimes numbers 6 and 7 can be found with a grey dial. Model number is missing.

A range of four square watches with a Lip R184 electronic movement and black strap. A polished steel screw is fitted to each corner of the case.
