J.31 Citizen Quartz Crystron Mega

1975Caliber 8650A reaches the market in December of this year. The watch with a frequency of 4 MHz (4,194,304 Hz) had an amazing accuracy and only lost about 3 seconds a year. This was the highest frequency ever to be applied in a watch at that time. The frequency is directly proportional to the power dissipation and to acccuracy. Because the battery life was extremely short, only a few watches were produced. The quartz crystal is lens-shaped. It was only sold in a gold version for about US $ 15,000. Production quantity 1,000 pieces.
1976In June the sale of caliber 8650B starts.
1979Caliber 7370D goes on sale in October.
